Over the past few weeks I have posted news on expected schedule, service, and numbering changes to various Amtrak routes, when the general timetable change takes place on October 27th. This has not yet included any news from the Northeast Corridor, Virginia service, Springfield service, Keystone service, or Empire service, or the eastern name trains, because that information will not be finalized for another week.
To whet your appetite, however, NARP is reporting that there will be a shuffle of northbound/westbound trains on the Empire Corridor. This is concurrent with the extreme rescheduling of the westbound Lake Shore Limited, nearly 4 hours earlier. One of the New York City-Niagara Falls trains (probably the second one, currently #283) will be scheduled to run much later (around 3:45 PM departure from New York), and because of this, the Friday-only New York-Syracuse run (#289) will be cancelled; it will instead run as a New York-Albany train (#259) all 5 weekdays.
More on the above eastern corridors and name trains (Vermonter, Adirondack, Maple Leaf, Downeaster, Ethan Allen) when it becomes available and I can confirm it.
