micah's train was delayed a bit, due to a downed tree somewhere (methinks). as the mother hen i have a few misgivings about the journey ahead of him, but it's been my experience that hiker/traveler types are most often fine people, and it is my hope that this sojourn affords my son the peace that he's seeking. i personally feel badly that his camera is not going along to catalog the scenery, because i think he takes spectacular pictures, put the iphone is always available for a quick capture, as long as there's a charge available. please send prayers of safety to surround his footsteps. i'll check in as time and news warrants.

Any updates on this, Susan? How long will he be hiking the Appalacian Trail? What a wonderful experience for him, but what a worry for you.

He posts on twitter every day or so.

Some thunderstorms rolled through the area yesterday, he posted this morning that there were many washed out trails and he was considering staying put for the day.
