I thought I would give a quick trip report about our trip from London to Paris and back to London on the Eurostar high speed train. I have only been on the Amtrak until now, but I went to Europe and had a chance to ride some trains there. All so different than our trains. I loved the Eurostar! It was so smooth and the ride was great. I went to the snack bar and checked it out they had a ton of food for purchase, which was nice. However, so surprised the seats were smaller and not as much leg room as our Amtrak. But all in all it was a great experience, I would have like to go on a longer ride it was only 2 hours 20 minutes. I have a couple of photos but do not know how to post on here. So Happy Travels to all. And I can't wait for my next Amtrak adventure!!

I have taken the Eurostar between Paris and London on several occasions

when we lived in Paris. It is a relatively smooth trip and much more

convenient than flying. The seats are comfortable and the scenery enjoyable.

... although the scenery under the, err, sea, is a little bland!

Glad you had a good experience on Eurostar, it is still a great novelty for most of us Brits to travel to France by train!

Here is a video I took from my back facing window seat on a Paris Gare du Nord - London St. Pancras Eurostar at 300kph (186mph) somewhere in Picardie in France. At about 1:30 that is a Thalys from Brussels Midi to Paris Gare du Nord that flashed by at a net crossing speed of 600kph (372mph).

I rode the Eurostar way back in 1999 and remember it the same way. Very smooth; but but I felt like I was in the economy section of an airplane.
