I've taken this train but not the murder mystery. It depends on what is important to you. The area is scenic, worth a drive just for that, especially during spring wildflowers. Santa Paula's oil musum is world class and there are lots of ag-related stops along 126. They have a working steam engine (in addition to at least two in pieces) but don't bring it out ordinarily; they do announce when it'll be used. The speed limit on their track is very low and they usually only use a few miles of it. If you like excursions, you'll probably want to take it once just to check it off your list. This is a fun train to chase and photograph. There is a worthwhile historical museum onsite but it keeps different hours and days than the train, a situation that baffles me.

Thanks. I figured it may go slow because some of the train trips seemed long if the train had any speed at all.
