Did my first Amsnag late Friday. Going from St. Paul to Reno next March and booked the return trip Friday, all I can afford to do as of now. Got the coach fare for $224 (RNO-MSP), with a Veterans Advantage discount and roomette for $201 for the Empire Builder portion, which was a $91 drop in price this week!

Just asking...is a roomette for $201 (PDX-MSP) a decent rate?

Also...It looks as though you cannot do vouchers online yet? I have one for $212 that I tried to use when I booked this trip and it did not take. I assume I will have to redeem it in person at Midway Station. Not a big deal as I can use it towards my outbound portion of my trip.

Also another thought...with the move to St. Paul Union coming, it would be interesting if I were to depart St. Paul from Midway Station on a Tuesday and arrive back in St. Paul at Union Station the next week on Thursday!

Looking forward to the EB-CS-CZ and back next March...can't wait! :)

WHISKY TANGO !

Yes that is a good price ..... Esp if that is With the base fare added ......... shoot dont hold me to this but the EB is like 180 for PDX to CHI on a good day ! and that is just coach .

( I have been thinking of going to CHI to chill with some friends ..)

I can attest to the fact that eVouchers are redeemable online. But just as there are many reasons why an upcoming itinerary may be quarantined from the "current reservation" section of "My Account" on amtrak.com, I'm sure there are reasons why an eVoucher is also quarantined from the eVoucher section.

I'm pretty sure you could redeem your eVoucher over the phone.

An interesting sideline: when I rebooked a reservation, as usual before charging me for the new price, the amount I previous paid was credited to my CC less $100 of the original fare that came from a compensation voucher (last I heard the jargon is travel voucher). I was issued a eVoucher for $100 with a new start date. The eVoucher then appeared in "My Account".
