Of course, 7 Intercity trains each weekday (takes about 3 hr 10) plus 2 with a connection in Caen with a regional train (adds about 20-30 minutes). A few trains less on weekends.

Trains are operated by BB 15000 or BB 26000 locomotives and Corail passenger cars, reach up to 124 mph.

Is there a through ride from Paris to Cherbourg?

Many trains each day from Paris St. Lazare. Takes a little over 3 hours.

Rule of thumb, a change of stations is always necessary when connecting in Paris.

Eurostar arrives at Gare du Nord.  St. Lazare is one stop away on the RER E, an easy transfer compared to some of the possible combinations.
