I'm coming into Penn Station this Friday. NJ Transit has no wheelchairs (thanks a lot NJT), but I heard the Amtrax side does. Where could I get one? Or is that not impossible because I'm not traveling by Amtrak.

red caps don't check your ticket so I don't see why someone in your party could find a red cap to get a WC, just a suggestion may or may not work, (make sure to tip well if you get a WC)

I doubt it will work. It is hard enough to get a red cap to bring a wheelchair to meet an Amtrak train.......there is always a shortage of red caps and wheelchairs.

On MN the Conductor calls operations center before arrival to have wheel chair meet the *** car.

I am sure NJT has similar arrangement to be able to comply with ADA laws.
Not necessarily an ADA requirement, people who need wheelchairs are supposed to bring their own in many situations. If NJT doesn't have them, I think it unlikely they are required to have them, they would have been sued by now. To OP, I think you meant Friday June 6 ... What happened? Did you get a wheelchair?

Alice, I don't have a wheelchair because I'm in a temporary situation -- broken ankle -- and my ortho didn't issue me a wheelchair for it. And while I have crutches, the train station to street level is a long distance on crutches. I'm not allowed to walk on my boot yet and even if I could, it's a lot of for the broken bone. I know it's not an ADA requirement, I just thought they might since many places have wheelchairs and scooters to help people like me, either for free or a low rental.

No, I didn't get a wheelchair. I did get blisters on my palms from using my crutches from the distance to elevators both ways since they are further away than the escalators. C'est la vie!

:)

Oh god, a broken ankle. I sympathize. I did that a year and a half ago. I have a permanent limp and a cane as souvenirs.
