Has anyone successfully gotten a room at the advertised points price?

Basically, AGR 2.0 promised that the points were worth $.028. I have yet to find a single roommette/Bredroom fare on any train that gets me that value even though I specify adults, not seniors when comparing them.

Anybody having any better luck than I have had?

If you say away from the dates that were blackout periods in prior years, the 34.5 points per dollar ($0.029 per point) seems to be offered. Two examples:

June 8, 2016

CHI-DEN

Train #5

Roomette

1 Adult

Cost $532

Redemption 18,354 points

Value per point: $0.029

September 15, 2016

NYP-MIA

Train 97

Bedroom

2 Adults

Cost $746

Redemption 25,737 points

Value per point: $0.029

I booked a CVS-BEN roomette trip with points and got the $0.029 rate. The trip still has the same rate for that same travel date on the Amtrak web site tonight, albeit at a higher bucket. And I'm only a regular member, not select whatever.

The return trip would have been during a peak pricing period, so I opted to burn airline points instead.

I got a bedroom on the Crescent at the advertised rate on the morning of the changeover to AGR 2.0

I get that 34.5 points per $ equivalent booking all the time and use amsnag.net to find the days with low-bucket rates for the roomettes. So far, every trip taken under AGR 2.0 rules has required fewer points than what would have been required under AGR 1.0 rules.

I got a roomette BAL-EMY on the day of the changeover and then re-booked it when the price went down. Both were under the amount I would have spent under 1.0, the second one significantly.
