I'm Amy and I joined because I'm planning a trip across country and it's been a while since I've done any long distance train travel so I have questions. I've always loved train travel, but it's not what you would consider a hobby. I don't know anything about technical specs or that sort of thing. I just enjoy the mode of travel.

My past trips include Boston to Los Angeles round trip via the Southwest Chief in summer 2003, Los Angeles to Oakland in summer 2011, and in summer 2000 I travelled Boston to Virginia (I don't remember the station). I grew up outside of Boston, so I've also done a handful of shorter trips on Amtrak and the MBTA commuter rail. Since moving to California, I've also made the San Diego to LA trip several times.

Welcome! Every few years, I travel on Amtrak across a couple of states or across the country. I still find I have information to ask for and experiences to share on this forum. I've found that people here are very friendly and always willing to answer a question or admire my trip photos!
