If you work for Amtrak, you would contact HR. Your supervisor would be able to provide the number if it isn't listed on your paycheck.

If it's your husband that works for Amtrak, Amtrak may not be able to provide you with any information about his benefits, depending on privacy laws and/or internal policies.

HR will not be able to help. You need to talk to a representative of the RR Retirement Board for your region to get factual information. RR Retirement is complicated, you need to go straight to e source for your particular situation. They will be able to work with you on your spouse retirement benefit, if not yours and his, as long as you are the spouse who will receive benefits. WWW.secure.rrb.gov

Thanks, Shortline! I wasn't sure if it was an Amtrak program or something separate. My retirement pay is handled through HR; it didn't occur to me that the railroad might use a separate program.

No problem. Most people dont know how it works, even tjose in the industry.....its a typical gov run program, overly complicated and mot terribly well managed! RR Retirement is handled a lot like Social Security, by the government. Just costs is a whole lot more to put into it, and its a real retirement system, rather than the SS system which is more of a supplement system.

How long do I have to work for Amtrak before I can qualify for permanent disability benefits?
