If you're in a sleeper, bottled water is provided at no charge.

I think the coaches have drinking water spigots, but the taste may not be to your liking. You can bring your own water (or any other non-alcoholic drinks) and snacks in either coach or sleeper.

I seem to drink more water than most folk, so I usually bring one of the large 1 gallon water bottles onto Amtrak for an overnight trip in coach. Bit heavy to carry, but so much better value than the smaller "sports" size bottles.
