I put LMY to LOS in the Amtrak web site booking page for a random date (4/11) and got back 2 motor coach options.I need to book the shuttle from Lamy to Los Alamos. The shuttle website says I have to book through Amtrak but I can’t find anything about this on the Amtrak website. Any help out there?
How much was the "extra"?Be aware that while the shuttle will deliver you to any location in Santa Fe, it will do so only withing the city limits of Santa Fe. Well, they'll drop you off at a suburban stop, but it will cost you extra. This happened to me when I wanted to be dropped off at the airport to pick up my rental car. The Santa Fe airport is just outside the city limits.
It was $10, but that was in 2015.How much was the "extra"?
That is certainly a departure from the prior practice. We have used the shuttle several times and they always dropped us off and picked us up at our hotel. It is good to be forewarned that that is no longer the case so thanks for that post. I would like to think that it is only a temporary change but perhaps not.My wife and I rode the shuttle between Lamy and Santa Fe this past October, and the driver refused to drop us off in Santa Fe other than at the Railrunner Station in town. He would not drop-off passengers at ANY local hotel, no matter how close. I later called Amtrak customer service and they confirmed it is the correct policy. Customer service said the website would be corrected, but I'm not sure about it. I wasn't happy that the shuttle wouldn't travel to our hotel, as it meant we had to lug our wheeled luggage several blocks. Not what I expected at all!
Adds an hour and a half just for the SWC, plus waiting for the next RailRunner then the RailRunner trip itself is another 1 1/2 hours. Not sure why people don't just take the train to ABQ and take the Roadrunner from there to Sante Fe...
I suggest that you compare the SWC schedule with the roadrunner schedule. The interface is not great in many cases. Not sure why people don't just take the train to ABQ and take the Roadrunner from there to Sante Fe...
I would guess the shuttle company before Washington since they seem to have cut back other services unrelated to Amtrak as well.Who changed the policy? Another decision in Washington DC?
Last I checked Roadrunner no longer offers shared service from ABQ and Rail Runner is not setup to connect with Amtrak or wait when the Chief is late. Not sure why people don't just take the train to ABQ and take the Roadrunner from there to Sante Fe...
