You can find this classic arrivals and departures board from Los Angeles Union Passenger Depot on display at the Los Angeles Central Library. It's part of an exhibit featuring artifacts, architectural drawings and other nifty things celebrating Union Station's 75th birthday.

Looking up all the routes I could, it looks like they all go places that trains now a days go to, ie Chicago, New Orleans, Northern California, but with greater frequencies. The obvious exception seems to be Tehachapi. For those of you in the know, did any of these trains go places you can't get to today?

This is the PROPER place to arrive Los Angeles and she is looking as good as ever! If you watch carefully along Alameda you may see Friday and Gannon drive by in an unmarked unit on their way back to Parker Center :)

To me LAUS is what every other large station in the US should aspire to be. At least it terms of how they're maintained and operated. It's so nice to visit sunny and relaxed LAUS after seeing the dark and dingy dungeons that serve as train stations for other large cities. Although I dislike the 4AM arrivals the extra two hours of platform sleeping and the nicest lounge on the entire network help make it a bearable sacrifice.
