My extended family will be traveling soon in celebration of a 50th wedding anniversary. We will be leaving from Lincoln, Nebraska and need to leave cars somewhere near the station for several days. Is the parking at the station safe to leave vehicles for a week or more? Any alternatives to suggest?

As I recall, station just outside of downtown and plenty of free parking.

201 N 7th St

Looked safe to me.

i concur. it's off a main street in an area surrounded by restaurants, bars, and such. i believe there's even a few retail spots in the actual station build. judging from google streetview, it looks like the on-street parking is metered. however, there is a parking lot off to the side.

Lincoln is a relatively safe city but common sense must still prevail. Station area near main PO, Police Station, etc. and well patrolled.

I'm just the man you need to talk to. Parked there a dozen of times or more. I usually go down to the City of Lincoln Parking and pre-purchase the amount I need. You will be given a credit card type of card that you just swipe at the gate. LNK is a very safe city but don't tempt fate, DO NOT leave ONE SINGLE ITEM in your car that a thief might like. The LNK station is just across the tracks from the City Mission and petty larceny in that area can skyrocket. I also park my car in the Amtrak (its really a city lot) with the rear of the car pointing toward the tracks and park in the row nearest the tracks. Sometimes depending how you are travelling you will de-train and your car will merrily be 25 feet away, hit the keyless entry trunk button and wallah! The trunk is open and the luggage goes right in. You can also pay cash at the gate but you have to have ones, fives etc and I like the simplicity of getting off the train groggy, having the credit card type of thing in my glove box, swiping and going. Beats trying to find nickels, dimes, quarters and bills at midnight or 4:30am. Have a great trip!

What kind of parking cost are we talking about if I left a car there a week?
