Sheesh! Lots of derailments - I was just thinking I read about another one yesterday but couldn't find it in my history (then remembered it was part of the bad weather in Scandinavia and it was in Sweden and just a mention in a bigger story).

But has there been another US derailment this week?

While I'm not an investigator nor do I know all the details, the M7 cars have had a rocky start ever since they went into service in 2002. They had swaying problems with those bogies (trucks for those of you not familiar with the term), which was one of the many issues of them. Whether that played a role is up in the air, but it sounds like it might have to do with the tracks being worked on at the time.
