Longtime NYC Railfan

Hello,

My name is Scotty and I’m a huge railfan. Happy to be part of this community. I write about live music for a living but have been fascinated by trains as long as I can remember.

My dad used to take me to Hoboken Terminal for a festival each year. I’d get to tour old/out-of-commision consists, contemporary NJ Transit train sets and add to my collection of timetables.

At the end of the month, I’ll be embarking on a bucket list trip. I’ll be riding Amtrak from Seattle to my hometown of NYC in a Roomette. Doing Seattle > St. Paul, St. Paul > Chicago and Chicago to NYC. Staying with friends in St. Paul and Chicago. I can’t wait!

If you have time, the Jackson Street Roundhouse in St Paul is worth a peek. There's also the James J Hill house up on the hill in St Paul which is also open for tours.
