The MBTA has announced the winning map of the public vote contest they held for 6 alternate new T maps. Map #1 that got the most votes is a heavily revised version of the current T map compared to the others of the 6 alternative maps. When I saw the contest maps earlier, I thought #1 was the best choice because I didn't see the need to radically change a map that people are familiar with. Showing all the Green Line stops is, IMO, the most significant improvement.

Another change is that the new T map applies circular 2 character color code labels for the lines at the ends in the same manner as the new WMATA DC Metro map. The DC Metro has placed the color codes on signs throughout the system. However, the WMATA has RD for Red Line, GR for Green Line, OR for Orange, SV for Silver, YL for Yellow. The draft T map has RL for Red Line, GL for Green Line, OL for Orange Line. They are all lines, so the T map is wasting a character by ending the code with L.
