Hey,

I thought that in the past Metrolink offered the weekend $10 pass for all 4 days of the Thanksgiving weekend. I don't see it this year so I guess not being offered. I was considering riding to LA on Friday but will wait until Saturday if I go at all.

Didn't the $10 pass cover the entire weekend? I see now that it is good for Saturday or Sunday but apparently not both. I have never used it for more than one day anyway but just seems as the conditions have changed a bit.

Dan-

You're right, the weekend passes used to be valid all weekend but they re-tooled the program earlier this year. Metrolink found that most passengers (including you) didn't use the pass for more than one day. They also found that some of the more unscrupulous passengers were selling their day passes to other customers when they were done with them. By making them weekend DAY passes, they hoped to increase farebox recovery, without impacting a lot of customers.

This year, regular weekday prices will be charged on Thankgiving day and "Black Friday".

The agency is struggling with money right now, due to dwindling ridership. I guess they are trying squeeze every penny they can out of passengers, although I'm not sure that will help boost ridership.

I spent a weekend 'doing' the San Bernardino and Antelope Valley Lines. I couldn't believe the number of people trying to 'buy' and 'sell' the $10 weekend passes. I think of lot of making them for one day only was to cut down on this abuse.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking a while ago that some folks might resell their tickets if they used them on Saturday and had no use for them on Sunday. $10 is still a good deal for me as it is about half the fare I would normally pay.

Re this Thanksgiving, I guess I will try to get someone to go with me on Saturday instead of Friday.
