With Winters getting worse the MTA (New York region) unveiled a fleet of 3 new Rotary Plows that can clear up to 3 feet of snow and heave it up to 200 feet away. While not the Monsters seen on Donner Pass these are Mean Machines and seemed to do a good job keeping the trains running during Hercules.

WNBC did an interesting piece on the new machines but has not yet put it on their Web Site.

Anybody notice that MTA press release (the first link) is almost 4 years old. So this is nothing new.

WNBC made it sound like these were new Dogs in the Fight but with all the criticism MTA have received during the past several storms the media was probably sniffing around hard and the MTA was hitting back with all the good PR they can muster.
