I would ask. You never know.Looks good (except that the grits are still only with the Continental Breakfast).
I've seen potatoes with skins that were naturally beige or brown, red, and blue. Blue potatoes. "Stretch" beige into white and you've got the traditional tricolors. An impressive menu with several new to Amtrak items. Tr-color Potatoes for breakfast? Artificial color added to white potatoes?

I completely overlooked that. Thanks for pointing it out.No salad among the dinner appetizers?
You can - the eggs and omelettes are cooked to order on board so all these items are optional.Guess I’ll have to ask for plain scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs with just eggs. Ugh
"Within each adorable bag of these two-to-three-bite ’taters, you’ll find a Medley of gold, red, and purple potatoes. "By the way, the tricolor potatoes sound like what I’ve gotten in the grocery store. They are baby potatoes that come in a bag, and you steam them in the bag in the microwave for a few minutes. They have several varieties (I’ve seen Yukon gold, red, and tricolor), and they’re actually pretty good. Don’t let the blue/purple color throw you off—they all taste like regular potatoes.
When they first became popular and were a bit unusual to see, I believe some restaurants charged a bit extra for their “purple” potatoes — until everyone started realizing they could just get them in the store themselves and toss them in the microwave!

It seems to me that for years, salads were on the traditional dining menu, sometimes for both lunch and dinner, so their absence is quite a change. No salad among the dinner appetizers?
I had had that. It was the weakest item on the lunch menu, IIRC, and the vegan chili was great (I am a confirmed carnivore, btw), the best item on the lunch menu.Strange that they're serving vegan chili with bacon, cheese, and sour cream. Might as well just put the beef in.
I was looking forward to the artisan grilled cheese.
Exactly! With a limited menu having an item that can be vegan or not depending on what you add is great for everyone.Vegans can take it straight, the rest of us can goose it.
Yes they were but in my opinion you aren't missing much.It seems to me that for years, salads were on the traditional dining menu, sometimes for both lunch and dinner, so their absence is quite a change.
