I notice the NE Zone inside the Eastern Region.Using AGR Pts. from TPA to POR?????
The Northeast zone is a part of zone one. So TPA to POR is consider one zone. The purpose of the Northeast zone is simply to allow for trips within the northeast for less points than would normally be charged for a one zone trip.

As noted by the other, that's a one zone trip. That would be 15,000 points for a roomette or 20,000 for a bedroom. And that would include a business class seat from NY to Boston's South Station and then another BC seat from Boston's North Station to Portland. You have to get yourself from South Station or Back Bay to North Station though, Amtrak doesn't help you there. Options are subway, bus, or taxi.

And as noted in the other topic, this trip also cannot be booked online via the AGR system, as it involves transferring trains and sleepers.

That does not include Acela, correct?

Thanx Alan

No, if you want Acela, you'd need to make two awards, one for the Silver to NYP or DC, and then one award for Acela to Boston. And that would leave you stuck in Boston, as you'd now either need a third award (1,000 AGR points) for the Downeaster or you'd have to pay for that trip out of pocket.

Put another way, you're spending an extra 9,000 AGR points to get to Boston on Acela in BC; 11,500 in FC.
