One Loophole routing gone!

Back on my big USA Tour 2009, I took the Slidell loophole to SEA via LAX. In other words, they gave me three choices: the Southwest Chief, the Zephyr, or the Builder. So I took the Chief via LAX to Seattle. Now it typing the same trip in using various dates, I can't seem to get that southern routing! And that was the best one offered. Now I'm not really planning on a big trip again for awhile like that, but I was just looking for future reference.

So traveler. Have you found any anomalies in the system using different cities or dates? Should I try different cities, perhaps, MEI or BHM?

The best I can do is from ONA (Ontario, CA - a $9 coach ticket and ~50 minutes from LAX) to SDL via the TE, CL and Crescent eastbound, or SDL to CIC (Chico, CA) via the Crescent, CL, SWC and CS westbound - for a 2 zone award. And of course there are all those long 1 zone loopholes too!
