Sorry to bother, but this information seems to be unavailable on the web. I was wondering what the maximum Amp ratings (short time, I know the continuous ratings) are for both traction, and braking. I know that the Ammeter goes from -1200 amps (braking) all the way to 1800 amps (traction), but I'm not sure if the actual mechanical limits are lower. Thanks in advance.

You might want to task your question to the experts on Trainorders.com; I expect you will have to register as a member (the cost is minimal and worth it, in my opinion) in order to receive formal response(s). As with Amtrak Unlimited, you can expect to receive expert information.

The cost isn't minimal if you ask me.. I think it's $30+ for a 1 year membership.. I always look at TO but I'm not springing $30+ on a website just for a year. I'll spend that on diapers. TO does have some very knowledgeable members. IINM Jis and PRR60 are members of TO.
