We are thinking of taking a PATH train from Newark Penn Station to the 33rd St station and wondering if you need separate tickets when transferring to the yellow line at Journal Square from the red line train? Is it an easy transfer--other track nearby?

We wanted to ride into World Trade Center on the red line but found it will not be operating on weekends anymore.

Thanks for the help.

No one calls PATH trains by their colors, just the trains destinations. Journal Square is an easy free cross-platform transfer. All transfers on PATH (basically, within reason) are cross-platform.

PATH has turnstiles and you pay the $2.50 fare (same as the NYC subway) using a pay-per-ride MetroCard (Unlimited ride MetroCards don't work on PATH) when you board. There is nothing to do when you exit.
