Last Monday (Oct 13th) I took three elderly neighbors for their 1st train trip. We flew Tampa - Houston - Portland(PDX} thru, or should I say around, the huge front that swept the country. We were very lucky & had only minor delays!
We stayed at the Airport Radisson, which I can't say enough about, Very Enjoyable Experience!!! We stayed there 2 nights, spending the days playing tourist & getting around by using MAX's Light Rail!
Wednesday we boarded the 1130 Coast Starlight sleeper car. Everyone enjoyed the ride to SAC! The only negatives were having to get the SCA to get ice & the PPC hogs! ( couple left books & computers on the swivel seats all day long) That annoys the Hell out of me!
We arrived in SAC on time & went to the little Lounge area for the sleeper passengers. 2 of us went to Perkos for breakfast while the other 2 slept most of the morning. SAC Station has WIFI, so I spent my time on the computer!
We boarded the 631 California Zephyr sleeper on time & enjoyed a wonderful ride to Denver & were only about an hour late. Again, had to have the SCA get the ice on both trains but wasn't really a problem!
We couldn't have asked for better weather!!! I am pleased to say everyone had a great time!!!!
We're in the La Quinta Inn Central & I'm writing this little report while the others are getting ready. We're gonna go back to the New Station for a closer look and go to the 16th St Mall.
We fly back to Tampa in the morning.
All in all, I couldn't have asked for a better experience for our new comers!!!!!!!
