Man dies after being struck by train north of Tacoma

Posted by The Associated Press

TACOMA — Authorities are investigating the death of a man struck by a train north of Tacoma.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe spokesman Gus Melonas said the northbound coal train struck the man around 3 p.m. on Monday. He says three passenger trains face temporary delays as officials at the site investigate the matter.

Melonas says the train used its emergency break but ultimately struck the person on the tracks.
The same story has appeared in at least three newspapers, and no one has caught the misspelling.

But the crews of the locomotive that struck the pedestrian may well now need an emergency break -- from work for several days or weeks.
