PTC Notices Going Out

NS has sent theirs out and I presume that CSX, BNSF, etc. won't be far behind.

I have heard that Amtrak will start posting official notices sometime starting late November, unless of course Congress manages to get off their duff and do something about it first.

Here is the House Draft Bill HR3763, which includes the PTC extension that is in the works right now.

January is too far away to worry about travels at present at least for me. I get around to arranging domestic travel about a month to 6 weeks out. Seem to get some of the best fares at that point.

All of those threats appear to be working. An extension will be in place most likely in a couple of weeks.

Well, here's hoping. The threats are still idle threats in a certain sense; if the extension isn't in place, I absolutely expect the STB to order the railroads to continue running *all* traffic. That gets the railroads out from legal liability, which is all they really wanted.
