STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- One of the few constants throughout decades of massive change in the borough celebrated a milestone this spring, as the Staten Island Railway marked 150 years of service.

The official date of the anniversary was April 23, but New York City Transit is commemorating the event this summer with MetroCard deals offered at several Island cultural institutions and other venues through June and July.

Full Story

Local artist Mary Bullock has reissued her "Postcards from the Rails" collection in honor of the anniversary. Boxed sets of 23 cards, with one project card and one for each Railway station, will be sold for $15 a box at Art by the Ferry on Saturday and Sunday and June 12 and 13 in the former Fishs Eddy building on Bay Street.
Do you have, or plan to have, this set, Tom? Nice story.

Nope - I don't think I can make it up to the ferry to buy any.
