Rerailing an Engine

Thanks for sharing, that's awesome. I never would have guessed that something as heavy as that locomotive would walk right up those wooden wedges and that the rail would swing back into place.
 
On my railroad these enormous fingers come down from the sky when something needs rerailing.

Why can't NS get that too? :)
 
My brother is a retired freight engineer and he has done something similar to this several times in his career. Takes a fine touch at the throttle and some understanding of where those pieces of wood go near the track. Saved the company a lot of money not having to call for a private company to rerail an engine.
