I booked a round-trip on the Wolverine for the Gathering during the 50% off sale about a month ago. At the time I booked train 353 to CHI and 352 back, as those were my preferred times and the schedule showed all 3 Wolverines running then. Since then, they have announced that a second Wolverine frequency would be coming back in July, though 353 and 352 were not among the trains that would be operating. After that, they updated the reservation system to add the new trains in July, but also to remove 353 and 352 until January 1st, 2022.

As of now I still have a reservation on those trains despite the fact that they no longer appear in the system - should I just wait to hear something from Amtrak regarding their status? If 353 and 352 are in fact not reinstated before October, will I be able to change to other Wolverine trains on the same day without paying a fare difference?

Call 'em up! You have the reservation number, so they should be able to figure out how you've been 'reaccommodated'.

They may be waiting to "reaccommodate" you until they know if 352 and 353 are going to be back, or not. I have never been charged more for a reaccommodation. That is when Amtrak changes your schedule at THEIR option.

If it was me, of course I'd want to know in advance... but I'd probably decide to just let well enough be till about a week before travel. You should know by then if your train will be back, and if it isn't (and you haven't received an email with a new ticket, as is customary), then you can call.

I have always received that email with the new ticket when they had to change my reservation in ANY way. Never any upcharge, either.
