Boarding was orderly in Chicago. Agent admitting passengers into pre-boarding area was not ready for the apple watch. I got THE LOOK and a warning: "Now you know the conductor can't scan that!" I said, "it's on my phone." Thus I escaped further scoldings. Boarded about 6:40.

The BC car was on the rear, railfan window blocked by an engine. The door was open and I boarded and selected a single seat on left. This single seat was awful. It wobbled when the women behind me shifted her feet on the footrest. Once the train started to move it rocked and wobbled continuously. I can't wait for new bi levels!!!! I moved to a set of two seats on other side of aisle. These seats at least did not wobble.

I saw evidence of gateway work between burns harbor and porter. A third track is being built and a bridge is being built to accommodate the new track.

After porter I napped and woke up as we approached niles. Got my breakfast sandwich and free Pepsi.

Between Kalamazoo and battle creek track is still rough. No evidence of improvement. Maybe the track work is further east.
