San Joaquin questions

I have a tight connection scheduled between trains 3 and 14 (and a hotel booking at SAC near Arden area), and was looking at San Joaquin schedules as a potential alternative to the CS. I have noticed the schedule changes. Does anyone have any information on the San Joaquin schedules?

If 3 is running late into Fullerton, they MAY provide bus service from there to a point further north on the CS. If it is not too late, they may hold the CS at

Los Angeles Union station for a cross platform transfer.

The problem with the San Joaquin 717 or 719 is the bus from LAUS to Bakersfield and the bus from Stockton to Sacramento.

If you are traveling solo, I like the HI hostel (10th & H) in Sacramento. It is within walking distance of the Sacramento Valley station. I have been on full buses

and nearly full trains on the San Joaquins line.
