Just wondering if a majority of our high mileage AU members have their tix lifted more often by the SCA's or the conductors?
Id say that in the past 6 months its been about 50% conductor/50% SCA except once in NOL an Amtrak policeman took tickets @ the gate.I'd say that I've probably had around 40% lifted by the SCA, 55% by the conductor, 5% by the agents at the Auto Train.
It does seem to me that within the past two years though there are fewer SCA's lifting tickets.
I spent over 1 hour in Alpine last month, because the TE was 1 hour early. The TE blocked 2 grade crossings for 1 hour. And yes, they gave me all my fare back for the layover! (Of course, since it was an AGR award ticket, there was nothing to give back! )The Alpine layover is a surprise, thats my birthplace/dream summer residence (I wish), I had no idea crew got paid to layover there, would Amtrak pay pax to layover a coupld of days too?
Well you certainly got your moneys worth in Alpine!! :lol:I too had the Police checking IDs of every passenger boarding the SL in NOL last March. (In fact that was the first and only time I've been asked for ID - not including when I pick up tickets from an agent or check bags.) But the conductor at the door pulled the ticket.I spent over 1 hour in Alpine last month, because the TE was 1 hour early. The TE blocked 2 grade crossings for 1 hour.
