We, 2 seniors, made this almost 6,000 mile trip April. 2016. We have made several long-distance Amtrak trips over the past 6 years. We've taken this route 2-3 times. Some things haven't changed- the beautiful scenery on the CS and CZ. Some things have changed- the dining car menu is now the exact same on all of these routes except for the CONO, and they seem to run out of food sooner. On the SL, they even ran out of tea! On the CZ, our whole car had no working toilets. It may be our imagination, but it seemed like the tracks were rougher than before. We love Amtrak, but it seems to be going down.
