Some interesting info about London's new Cross-Rail. According to an article in the May 2016 issue of the Railway Magazine, the Cross-Rail Line under construction will be called the Elizabeth Line. It will have a little over two miles of so called Floating Track mounted on sprung roadbed to isolate it from the base to reduce vibrations emanating from the tunnel to the surrounding in order to minimize effect on the theater district, recording studios and such above. Oh and the rails for the line are being manufactured and delivered by Tata Steel, though most likely manufactured in Europe one would suspect Quite a reversal from the times when British steel companies delivered the steel for laying the railways in India!

Tata Steel is actually a UK subsidiary of Tata which is close to bankruptcy due to cheap Chinese Steel flooding the UK market, they have already sold the North of Englands operations to a company under the name of British Steel and the South Wales site is up for sale which alone is losing £1million a week, the promise of this contract is the carrot being used to try and save the UK steel industry.
