See, see! FINALLY, somebody is gonna do this, although it's oversees. Imagine the "cool cars" that corporate sponsors in the USA could come up with? All those ex SF High-Levels, could be corporate-themed Parlour Cars, Piano-Bar cars, Kachina Room cars, Google Hangout cars, FB WiFi cars.......

All of them competing for the coolest lounge car, and generating interest in riding Amtrak.

What would ur favorite corporate sponsor be? And what wud the theme be?

Get "trashed" in The Waste Management lounge car. Tickle the ivory in a Yamaha keyboard car.

Rolling billboards X the usa, think of the buzz...... Remember, u heard it here first.

Google Car?? Apple would have to counter with the I-Car....oh never mind....what a silly concept........

How about a Beauty Rest or Sleep Number car with sleepers at somewhat affordable prices...

Or a IHOP the Train...the White Castle Wagon...Country Kitchen Cafe Car...

maybe an I-Mini movie car...

just a few quick ones off the top of my pointy head :p !!!

"Hershey Bar" - a snack-type coach with a sundae bar, s'mores, chocolate chip cookies, hot cocoa, and milk.

Tiki Lounge, sponsored by Captain Morgan - lots of fruity drinks and gaudy tiki decor. I would spend every minute in that place. They'd probably need some extra hand rails too.

An overnight coach sponsored by either an earplug manufacturer, or the company that makes those noise-cancelling headphones....

a "nursery car" for bored children, sponsored by Lego/Duplo - tables that are Lego or Duplo baseplates, and all the blocks they need to play with. (Heck, they might get some adults in that car)

I suspect that a Starbucks car would work about as well as putting Subway (the sandwich place) did on the Empire Service a few years back...

The employees of subway were bullied and threaten, by current and former Amtrak employee. The lack of training on how to get things done and the total lack of help by Amtrak caused it to fail.

Now that the empire service is run by New York, we are planning to get our cafe service back. It may or may not be Amtrak employees. New York can very easy put the whole thing out to bid.

How about a Jack Daniels car? It could be a boxcar for what it's worth, the occupants wouldn't know the difference.

One of my 'dream cars' would be sponsored by PPG Industries. PPG is the largest glass manufacturer in North Amrica, so the car would have lots of glass, including a full length dome.

And maybe "Windex" could be a co-sponsor - so that the windows are actually kept clean!

Unsubstantiated claims of bullying are worthless.

New York could put the "hole" (sic) thing out for bids, but that's unlikely, as food service isn't really a top priority on such a short run. Maybe they could put in vending machines, but then comes the question of who will maintain them, what about security, and how likely is it that people can get refunds when the machines malfunction? (for examples, see: Coast Starlight's video game parlors...)

Starbucks and...

Doughnuts?!?

Sorry, I pretty much swore off 'fat tablets' years ago, but I hear Doughnut Plant makes a good one - for NYC.

Bagels?!?

Now you're talkin'!

My bid is for either Ess-a-Bagel or Best Bagel & Coffee (which even is close to NYP at 225 W 35th St.)

Hmmm.... A turkey sandwich on a cranberry bagel? :p
