Visiting Flagstaff station last evening, the westbound was due over two and a half hours late, apparently due mostly due to the scene of derailment at La Plata, Mo a few days ago. The afternoon agent, due to go home at 11, would be staying OT, and the daytime man, who comes in around 3:15 am on his normal hours, was coming in early to assist her. Only 7 passengers were to get off, but 78 were boarding

Looks like the SWC that left Chicago yesterday [12/16] is currently on time in NM right now. Maybe the La Plata mess has been cleared up? Anyone have details on that?

Just got off 4 in chi. Our eastbound passed La Plata with no slowdown, about 15 min late into chi. Delay was from getting stuck for a time behind a slower freight. Otherwise no incidents behind that gorgeous P42 Anniversary engine.

Our local news is reporting an engine fire "freight" near La Plata, MO Firetrucks on the scene, I should have more info in 20 mins when they run the local news.

Add- update: Crews were able to extinguish the fire and the engine has been transported to the train depot for investigation.
