I am 6"5" tall and 289 lbs. I was wondering if someone my size can fit head to toe comfortable in a Roomette?
Does anyone know the inches in terms of length for the bed when its fixed and extended. Thank You!!

The roomettes are smaller than 6’6” which is my height. I fit in just fine. On a Viewliner (single level) I have to remove the seat backs off the wall. (Pull from the bottom and swing up, then off the hooks on the top. Clean the area behind the seat backs.) By removing the seat back you get to use the full space. Otherwise you lose several inches on each side, as you can’t fit the feet or head under the seat backs. Strange thing is that I don’t have this problem on a Superliner. Superliner are a bit bigger but also a different design.

As for your girth, if you toss an turner at night it going to be fun. Those are tight spaces on a Viewliner. Again a bit better on a Superliner.

Your size will not prevent you from travel and enjoying yourself. You just might be surprised on how much dirt collects behind those seat backs.

Happy trails from a taller traveler.

I'm 6'2", 210#. I've enjoyed Viewliner and Superliner Roomettes since 1990-ish, and traditional berths since 1945. I've slept with bended knees since the 1940;s because they didn't know how to spell Kingsize back then. We make do, Army cots, sleeping bags, boat berths, etc., you can fall asleep anywhere.

The responses so far have been insightful. We try to avoid Superliner roomettes because the ceiling is lower in all Superliner rooms than in all Viewliner rooms. But if you are the only roomette occupant and remove the seatbacks as mentioned (I didn't know that was possible), you may be okay except the beds are narrow in all roomettes.

Thank you for the advice and sharing your experience it is very helpful to me. I believe I am interested in the Superliner routes mostly so I should be ok. I just did not know what to expect. Thank You so Much !!

I will travel alone so ceiling height is no issue. Additionally, I am mostly interested in the Superliner train routes so I should be good there. It was more of concern fitting my 6'5" body on the bed head to toe. I just did not know what to expect. The information has been awesome thanks folks.
