I'm a new Amtrak employee(Sunnyside yard-NY). Trying to get some trip 7 + 8 crew base info please.

First i'll say what I do know, or at least what I was told, that the CHI and SEA base for OBS personnel work 7/8 in both directions, all the way thru.

(correct or mistaken) ?

Second, I'm curious as to the "bases" for the Engineers/Conductors and Assistant Conductors.

For example, how far would a SEA engineer take #8 ? Same for Conductors/Assistant Conductors.

How many Assistant conductors ON 7/8 ?

With the new Federal "hours of work rules", I'd imagine this could involve a lot of crew, just to complete 7-8 on any given day(s)

Many Thanx(in Advance) !!

I could be all wrong....but I think you should ask Amtrak this. Which makes me think that you think that this is an officially sanctioned forum BY Amtrak.

But it is not, this is a railfan's forum ABOUT general Amtrak and passenger train info. We do not quote binding info about crew bases, exact fares, make reservations or anything like that.

We can and do enjoy telling of our experiences and observations as travelers.

But again, if I am misunderstanding you, my apology.

Bill,

Completely "understood" that this is Not an official Amtrak site.

Sometimes one can get good sought-after-info from the unofficial site, as opposed to the official site.

Especially if the question is about a.....west of CHI operation.

At work I've quickly realized that there seems to be 2 Amtraks

1 east of CHI

the other....West.
