"The General" (1926, Buster Keaton) was inspired by The Great Locomotive Chase. It is one of the best comedies ever made and still shows on big screens with live music now and then. Charlie Hamilton sent me a note that it is playing April 25 at the Lincoln Theatre in Mt. Vernon, WA.

Don't forget "The Great Locomotive Chase" produced by Disney in the 1950's. It's a pretty accurate retelling of the event and has some great train action scenes.

There is a Civil War cemetery you pass on a Tennessee Valley Rail excursion where the engineer is buried and they have a memorial to the train.
