Same deal as the Superliners: Vote your preference! Explain why in the comments!

I like odd numbered roomettes on the Viewliners since usually the larger seat is facing forward. I like bedroom B because the couch is facing forward - usually. I travel on the Silvers more often than any other train since I live in Florida. As I said many times, I will miss the toilets when they disappear from the roomettes.

I like Viewliner roomettes over Superliner roomettes (because of the toilet); however I like Superliner bedrooms over Viewliner bedrooms because I think they are nicer.

I voted for 3, close to middle, and we had 3 both going & coming on our last trip. Never had the pleasure of traveling in a BR, but the H room looks very spacious.

Any room beats steerage (coach).

Your first question has "westbound" and "eastbound". As I don't use sleepers, I am just going to comment that it should not be written like that as I take a viewliner train westbound every time I leave home.

On no, not another east/eastbound and west/westbound debate!!

Might want to change it to "Eastern" and "Western" trains, as "eastbound" means traveling toward the east. (This was the very hotly-contested topic of another thread.)

I definitely think the Viewliner H unit is the best one on the train, but we also traveled in the bedroom with the sofa facing toward the vestibule end of the car (facing forward in this case) once too, when the a/c was out in the H unit. I can't remember which bedroom that one is, though. But it was very nice.

As to roomettes, any of those with the bigger (non-toilet side) chair facing forward (which on all the times we rode the Crescent, has always been the ones facing toward the vestibule end of the car.) Again, I don't recall if those are the even or odd numbered roomettes, but I'm guessing the odd numbered ones, so I voted for those. ??

On the bonus question, I voted for both!

Also, could you put "no preference" in the options? I have no real preference on the bedroom side of things.

Stop running with scissors!

Edit: :)

Thanks for posting the diagram. I would add a vote for BR B in addition to my H vote if I could.

Ryan, I think the floorplan diagram that you posted shows bedrooms A and B in reversed position. (I know it is not your diagram)

I actually don't have a huge preference between superliners and viewliners. I of course like the rail fan window in the upper bunk in the viewliners, but it IS nice to have the larger and better SSL/lounge car in the superliner consists.

I have yet to ride in a roomette but will be soon! So far its been bedrooms all the way for me.

What should one tip on the Viewliner? I assume one should tip double, since the roomettes have two windows, and the Superliner only has 1, yes? Or is it based on the quality of the RR French Toast? Either way,I'm thinking of checking my bags, so they don't sit on the lower level where just anyone can steal them. I just hope the sleeping car attendant leaves the ice out and doesn't lock it up in his roomette. Unfortunately, I think I messed up the scientific poll, by choosing all the answers at the same time. Why pick just one!

Appropriate response. Polite and helpful:

Also, could you put "no preference" in the options? I have no real preference on the bedroom side of things.
Less appropriate response:

Since there were no floorplans posted like in the Superliner poll, this should be null and void
Completely unhelpful response:

Well, THAT blows since I already voted ( and was FORCED to make selections I didn't want to )
Utterly worthless flamebait response:

Why of couse, I expected this to have been well thought out, shame on me, SHAME SHAME SHAME
See the difference? Maybe try not to be a sh-t poster next time?

For me, I prefer viewliner equipment due to the upper window. By chance I've been given bedroom A four times and bedroom B 3 times. Really don't have a favorite on viewliners, but I put down A cause I've had it more than B. Viewliner roomettes, I've been in all but 5, 9, and 10. Had 7 a total of 3 times and have no complaints so I put down 7. I've had 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 all once and no complaints either, but I picked just one.

Of course my viewliner experience has all been Cardinal and Crescent, though that will change next week, adding the Meteor to the list. :) Roomette 2 RT!

Are we going to do that whole "Western" versus "Westbound" thing again with the Superliners piling up on the Pacific coast with no way to get back?
They are loaded onto ships and sail around the globe, being offloaded again on the East Coast.

The Superliners for the Sunset Limited are offloaded at New Orleans.

They do the same thing with Viewliners, but going the other way. This actually helps save Amtrak a lot of money as otherwise the ships would have to sail back empty.

But because Mica and the other anti-Amtrak folks would take issue with that, they actually disguise the Viewliners to look like Superliners when they're Eastboand.

Could you add a true "no preference" option to the roomette number question? I really have no preference, but it will not let me vote at all without specifying one.

BTW, choosing "I'm exclusively a bedroom guy/gal" isn't quite the same thing as liking all roomettes equally.

If you like all roomettes equally, vote for all of the roomettes. That's why it's configured to allow you to select as many rooms as you like.

"I'm exclusively a bedroom guy/gal" is exactly that - I prefer to stay in no roomettes.
