I did Trails & Rails on #7 and #8 from CHI-MSP... had a great trip and got permission to decorate the lounge car in red, white, and blue balloons and streamers and American flags. We also played the national anthem over the lounge car speakers when we crossed the Mississippi River -- and saw a bald eagle during the song. We also had a lounge car attendant who played patriotic songs on his guitar in the upper level of the Sightseer Lounge Car!! One of the best Trails & Rails trips I have had!! (Also had rmadisonwi aboard from the AGR forum!!)

Enjoy!!!

Those are great pictures, I love train photos and that car looked wonderfully Fourth of Julyish!

What a fantastic, and thoughtful thing to do. That should have given Amtrak some brownie points in the passengers eyes. And then, imagine, a bald eagle flying by. Who could believe that would happen?

Nice pictures Robert! Looks like a good crowd and kudos to you for decorating the Lounge. The gentlemen in picture 068 looks like our car attendant on our 2008 Christmas trip from MSP>CHI. We were in the Portland sleeper and he did his job well.

I just got off the Empire Builder yesterday and we had the same Sightseer Lounge from the last picture (33049) on our train. We left Seattle on Wednesday the 7th and detrained at Winona, MN.
