I've found myself in the annoying position of having too much time on my hands and not enough to do with it. All jokes aside, I was wondering if there were any decent transit advocacy groups to get involved with. As much as I don't mind them, NARP isn't on the list because IMHO they go "out in the weeds" way too much (the Sunset East does not strike me as a major priority at this point; I can think of five LD expansion projects that I would put ahead of it off the top of my head, and several of them would likely post lower net operating losses than the Sunset would).

Also, please note that I'm willing to extend this to generic public transit advocacy groups in Virginia as well.

So, ignoring NARP, who is there to get involved with out there?

NARP has its issues, but it has a large membership that shouldn't be overlooked. I would think seriously about getting involved, then running for its board. Also you should get involved with your state rail advocacy organization, since that's where the money is.
