We're planning on an Amtrak trip from Miami to Colorado Springs in the spring. The CZ pulls into Denver in the early am but their (free Greyhound) connecting bus to the Springs doesn't leave till 12 hours later. We would prefer getting down there a lot sooner. The previous Greyhound bus from Denver (not free but cheap enough) leaves too close to the CZ's arrival to risk counting on same. So...anybody have a (as low-priced as I can get away with) different way to get from Amtrak to Colorado Springs?

Thanks.

Consider renting a cheapie car and drive down if you can find a deal! Check the travel sights, usually weekends and non holiday periods/special events have the best rates!

Well if you ride Greyhound, the only option is 8:20 AM Sked 7307 service to Dallas, TX. If you don't mind spending a day in Denver, which is a nice city, you can take Sked 9263 at 7:15 PM service to El Paso, TX. Get a ticket for $10 if you book in advance.

I rode that 7307 and saw some of the ones to El Paso. All kinds of equipment possible.

I didn't see EP-LA in Denver, I've never seen them anywhere, but from pictures I see they have MCI 102D3s and 102DL3s with National Seating 4210A. They also have a H5-60 ( ) that might be out of service. Since their times are barely better than Greyhound, I would just ride Greyhound. But sign up for Road Rewards.

Oh yeah, the Greyhound tickets sometimes get cheaper with multiple people and/or with round-trips.

Saw the SkyRide Denver RTD MCI D4500CLs at Greyhound Denver. Didn't ride it since I wasn't going to the airport. That COS Shuttle is obviously overpriced.

Tell me what you think, Mark.

There are few bus services south to Colorado Springs. I think people have listed all of them.

(Dare I suggest it has to do with the local politics? There are far more bus services both up into the Rockies, and north in the direction of Ft. Collins/Laramie/Cheyenne.)

Cheyenne? What are you talking about? Look, when you're going north of Denver, you're going to go through Longmont, Loveland, and Fort Collins, or Brighton and Greeley, before you get to Cheyenne. When you go south to Colorado Springs, there's nothing but farmland once you get south of Centennial. That being said, there's really nothing between Fort Collins/Greeley and Cheyenne, hence minimal bus service other than Greyhound and Black Hills. Greyhound used to no go to Cheyenne until a few months ago. They used to go on the Shortcut US 287 from Fort Collins to Laramie. Black Hills goes north to Billings which is not served by Greyhound.

They do? Private sector generally doesn't change so much if they keep earning profits. Public sector, yeah, lots of transit routes were cut in the wake of the recession IIRC.

Enterprise at Broadway and Arapahoe will rent you a compact for pickup Friday and return Monday for $13 per day. Slightly higher prices for larger cars

Swandian, Have you driven I-25 through Douglas County recently, Castle Rock has boomed and now has over a 100,000 people living in huge sprawling subdivisions that line the I-25 corridor.
