Union Station (Albany, NY)

When I was a freshman at RPI (1967-1968) I took NYC or PC from Grand Central Terminal to Albany, disembarking at Union Station. Shortly thereafter, Union Station was closed and I had to disembark at Rensselaer - comparitively, a shack. Also, it was much more difficult to get back to school from that station.

The bridge where Amtrak currently crosses the Hudson River is north of both of those stations. Where did the train cross the river while it still went to Union Station? If it used the same bridge, was there some sort of back-up move involved?

Right. That is what it was called I think. The bridge that trains coming from New York used to cross the river to get to Union Station does not exist anymore.
