For years, I've notice that when I type my destination in Seattle, it gives me an option for SVF - Pier 69, which is where the Victoria Clipper parks. However, there is no Amtrak, thruway, busway, shuttle way or any other way that this "station" is used in the Amtrak system. Why is it still there? Maybe in the past, one could book via Seattle, Victoria Clipper to Victoria, BC, then onto the Malahat on a North American Railpass, but the Malahat is gone, the North America Rail Pass is gone, and all that remains is the Clipper and a city bus stop.

They should purge their station list if there is no way ARROW can do anything with it.

It is still listed because Amtrak still officially offers service to Victoria, BC. For instance, if you search for travel from PDX to VIF, it lists 500 Cascades (PDX-SEA) > 7416 Self Transfer (SEA-SVF) > 7406 Ferry (SVF-VIF).

I guess you've never attempted to book PDX-VIF before.
You are right. I have never attempted to book PDX-VIF before. I see mention of the Clipper on the small route timetable, but nothing on the website.

You don't need to start in PDX. You can just book SVF to VIF as a standalone "Thruway" trip.*

But you can't ever book XYZ-SVF where XYZ=anything other than VIF. In other words, for the

vast, vast majority of people using Amtrak to get to Seattle, the SVF code is meaningless.

That said, I don't think frequent passengers find this to be a problem, since they would

mostly just type in "SEA" which bypasses the double-code issue.

*Side note: Based on a quick series of dummy bookings, it appears as though you sometimes save

money buying this ticket from Amtrak rather than directly from the Victoria Clipper website.
