Good Evening..Have a question..has anyone taken that connecting bus or van from Kingman Az into Las Vegas?..Is it thru mountains and how is the ride..thanks so much

I have taken the bus from Kingman to Las Vegas. Actually, it was very dark that night and I don't recall whether it was mountanous or not. However, on approaching Las Vegas and all the lights, it was quite spectacular.

The train to Kingman arrived late. There were two vans (they don't use buses) and the drivers pulled into a restaurant and had breakfast about half way to Las Vegas. A short break would have been nice, but it was late and none of the passengers really wanted to wait while they ate. I didn't get to my hotel until 5:30 a.m.

The ride was ok. Not as nice as the train, but it was ok.

The drive from Kingman to Las Vegas is mostly flat and boring. A few hills leaving Kingman and then a few in the area near Boulder dam. The new bridge over the Colorado River bypasses the switchbacks going down and up from the dam itself. You also come down a hill on US 95 coming into Las Vegas and at night the lights are spectacular

I've never taken the bus itself but have driven that route myself many, many times.

If the van still serves Laughlin, NV (which I believe it does), the drive is not directly to LV on US 93! The turnoff onto AZ 168 or 163 (it's been 10 years since I've lived there) crosses a mountain in the AZ side prior to Bullhead City and the crossing of the Colorado River into NV. (Laughlin is directly over this bridge.) Leaving Laughlin, you cross another mountain before you reach US 95.

However, as said, it is otherwise flat and boring. Luckily it's dark!

BTW: If anyone notices the time departing Kingman is 12:50 and the arrival into Laughlin is also 12:50, that is not a misprint! During the winter months only, AZ and NV are in different time zones!

(AZ does not change the clocks, so during the summer, they are the same time as NV!)

Here is a link to the company's website: http://www.commuterservices.net/

And a picture of one of the vans

Kingman's elevation is 3,333 ft, while Laughlin's is only 558 ft as it sits in the Colorado River valley. Besides the descent into the valley and the stop at the Tropicana casino in Laughlin, there isn't much to see. Drivers are very friendly, tipped them $5 for handling our luggage on both ends.

I haven taken this van this year. I find the ride pleasant but long, the drivers are very nice. Like others have said it is dark, cannot see much. I agree, coming in to Vegas with the lights is spectacular.

They will not stop in Laughlin if no one is getting off there, we didn't in August. I believe I heard they always stop in Laughlin from Vegas to Kingman.

As always, my advice is...use the restroom right before getting off the train in Kingman. I'm sure the van would stop but at that hour, who wants to make a stop? :(

In skipping Laughlin on US93, I don't recall anything between Kingman and Boulder City to stop for a restroom break?

You can either visit with the driver or other passengers or sleep. I always have a sweater or jacket, never know if the van will be chilly.
