Nowhere close to the world's real high speed rails, but Indian Railways today inaugurated the first train to hit the magical 100 mph (160 km/hr) top speed. Here it can be seen doing top speed over an old but strong bridge-

Watching this video makes me feel oddly patriotic. Driving this train's speed isn't even a felony ticket on some Texas highways. As much as I may criticize Acela train technology at least it looks cool and can travel faster than a generic family sedan. In 2016 100MPH isn't magical so much as meandering. That being said I wish India much luck and success in modernizing their passenger rail services. I'm not currently interested in Indian trains but maybe the day will come when they appeal to me in the future.
