I notice that CETC in Wilmington only controls New York to Washington. Is the CETC for NY to Boston still located in Boston? Presumably that is Harold to New Rochelle and New Haven to Boston as Metro North controls New Haven to New Rochelle.

Roughly speaking Wilmington CETC controls Holmsburg and South to just short of Washington Union Station (and Keystone Corridor). New York CETC controls New Rochelle to Harold and NJ to Holmsburg (and Empire Corridor Poughkeepsie to Hoffmans IIRC). Boston CETC controls Boston to East Heaven (actually Mill River).

NYPSCC controls Hudson Tunnels to Harold Interlocking including Penn Station and CP Plaza towards GCT. I am not sure whether NYPS to DV (or whatever it is called these days) is controlled by a desk at NYPSCC or a the NY CETC. Unlike the CETCs the NYPSCC is jointly controlled by Amtrak and LIRR.

I am sure @Acela150 and @Thirdrail7 will slap me around wherever I am wrong and provide more accurate information. 🥴

I wonder how I can get one of those simulator setups for
the house? I bet people have them interfaced to a model setup too, with a cam on the lead loco.
Actually the currently available rail simulators do a pretty good job - TSW for eye candy although its physics not as good, Run8 for OK graphics and good physics, Train Simulator and Open Rails (which is freeware) in between. Most of them can be run with a Raildriver console. I use Open Rails with a keyboard and have several Amtrak routes including parts of the NEC, and Surfliner.

To include my home territory Boston CETC also controls Mill River to Springfield. 🙂

NY CETC is in the same room as NYPSCC correct?

I have run the old MSTS/Open Rails a few times while on the routes that have Amtrak trains such as the Piedmont/Carolinian from Charlotte-Greensboro-Raleigh and the NEC from DC to Philly. I also have played with the RFP from DC to Richmond.

A few times conductors have stopped and watched for a bit. Most of those routes have some distinctive features such as bridge or water crossing that is done very well and one can tell if you are at the same point or ahead or behind. It is amazing how people have extended a 22 year old program and those old routes can still be played with.

I'm here! Lol! Sorry it's been busy on my end and I haven't had time to touch my laptop.

The Wilmington Dispatching Office is in CNOC and controls from CP Avenue to MP 76 just east of HOLMES interlocking. MP 76 is right at the I95 overpass. You'll hear the crew on the radio call out to "change channels". We go from 54/54 to 60/60 there. Not sure what those frequencies are for scanners but those are the channels we use. Washington Terminal is controlled by K Tower. They use 54/54. I'm not sure exactly who controls what past Penn Station, but I do know that the Boston Dispatching Office picks up at the change over from MNRR.

PSCC controls Bergen interlocking. That is the interlocking that controls which tube the trains go in.

I suspect that on the Empire side, PSCC controls CP Empire. I don't know who if some desk in NYCTEC controls the rest of the Empire connection to what used to be DV.

I am not sure if PSCC controls Gate on the Hell Gate Line. The rest is controlled by a desk at NY CETC. Similarly I am not sure if PSCC controls Wood interlocking (at Woodside) on LIRR. Of course beyond that is LIRR Control Center. What each of these interlockings share in characteristic is that they control which track a train enters the Core PSCC controlled area, just like Bergen does from NJ, and Plaza does from Grand Central Madison.

How is Springfield itself handled, since tracks 1 and 2 are CSX. I assume CETC controls at least as far as Sweeney (the connection to the Conn River line used by the Vermonter) but how about the station itself?
They control the station tracks 4-8. Basically from Sweeney if you look on Google earth they control that southern most track over the arches and into the station which then becomes Spring interlocking and tracks 4-8. Amtrak controls all that. Use of station tracks 2A and 2 as well as use of the wye does involve CSX dispatch. North of the wye is Pan Am/Springfield Terminal district 3 dispatcher - Pan Am D3 is about to become the Berkshire and Eastern (owned by G&W and they’ll be taking over the district 3 dispatch.)

Yes. The Entire NY Dispatching Office is in the same place and in the same room. We call it "40 Office".

40 office is not the entire dispatching office. 40 office is where the MTOs and upper echelon that sit and they have their own offices. They are not in the pit.
Think of it like S office or the Control Center in WTC.

It may be easier for you if you just call it the New York Dispatching Office. This is because there are different titles and references. If you asked a LIRR employee if they worked in CTEC, they would look at you as if you had two heads. Indeed, LIRR employees that are only qualified to work in PSCC aren't even considered (or called) dispatchers.

In any event, PSCC controls Gate Interlocking, and the Section A dispatcher controls Gate (exclusive) to CP216(exclusive)
