what is the 100 series NEC unit

I was looking at another form and some one mentions about the 100 series NEC units on the Carolinian. What is this unit

101-111 series, part of the 1-207 sereies P-42 locomotives, are deignated for service on the Northeats Corridor, especially between Philadelphia and Harrisburg, and Washington DC and Newport News. The locomotives are painted in the same phase IV scheme as other P-42's, except, these 15 locomotives have a darker gray roof plus the words "Northeast Corridor" in the lower corner on the cab end.
